I had been looking forward to my trip to South Dakota and it turned out to be awesome. One of the highlights was definitely our motorcycle trip through the Badlands National Park.
We were traveling in our RV and pulling the motorcycle on a trailer. Once we set up the RV at our campground in Wall, South Dakota, we headed out on the motorcycle.
The Badlands National Park has two entrances off I-90 in South Dakota. We drove back east from Wall past the west entrance and entered the park through the east entrance.
Our trip along the 31 mile Loop Road had plenty of places to stop. I took lots of photos of the truly stunning landscape.
The park has 244,000 acres with 15 different outlooks. There are also 8 trails if you feel like getting up close to the views. If you do choose to hike remember to wear good boots and watch out for rattlesnakes. Water, sunglasses and a hat are also good items to have along.
The views show off the millions of years of erosion through the shale and sandstone. You won’t see bluffs and sharp-edged pinnacles with colorful layers like this very often (if ever).
This landscape is like another world and every turn in the road was another photo opp. Finally at the end of the Loop Road we went west on I-90 for one mile and we were back in Wall.
