Week 2 of my loft renovation has not been very exciting. Last week was full of changes with most of the unnecessary walls being removed. This past week has not had anything visible happen. If I were texting this is where I would insert a sad face.
The project is moving forward . . . progress is just not apparent. My contractor is busy finishing up a couple of other jobs so my renovation is on hold. In the meantime I am busy behind the scenes picking out stuff . . . vanities, showers, faucets, carpeting, tile, etc.
My main focus this week has been the lighting. I really want some interesting fixtures to compliment the industrial look I’m going for. The current lighting is terrible! It was OK, I guess, 22 years ago, but I am picturing something completely different now.
My first lighting task for the loft renovation has got to be picking the 4 fixtures that light up the steps and the hallway when you enter the building. I am leaning toward a warehouse style pendant like this one I found on Amazon.
I also have a gallery wall that needs to be lit at the top of the stairs. I am planning some black and white photo canvases of local scenes and I’ll need 3 wall sconces to light these. This is one I also found on Amazon.
I love this fixture from Restoration Hardware. It is my favorite fixture that I’ve found so far! I think it would look great over the island in each of the 3 kitchens.
I seemed to be drawn toward anything that has metal and/or glass. I still need lighting in the dining areas and bathroom fixtures. I am trying to pick fixtures for the bathroom that put out plenty of light without putting out too much heat.
Hopefully by this time next week my contractor and crew will be hard at work building the new walls we need. In the meantime I’ll keep picking out lights. After that I’ll move on to the ceiling fans.
If you missed what happened in Week 1 you should check it out so you can see the demolished walls and the beautiful exposed brick each of the lofts will have. I’ve just started this project and I can’t wait for it to be completed!!!
