My girlfriends and I are always on the lookout for our next fun trip. Usually that means a beach somewhere or great shopping. Sometimes both. And the truth is we could go almost anywhere and have a great time. I like to get ahead of the planning so I’ve started doing some research and here is my current list of favorite girlfriend getaways:
Kansas City, Missouri
Kansas City is my home now and I am having a wonderful time exploring the city. I’m always looking for a new place to go and I’m keeping track of all my favorites so that I’ll know where to take my friends when they come to town. I’m partial to restaurants that have outdoor patios and good happy hour specials. And I love the dueling pianos at Ernie Biggs! Check out my list of KC Favorites.
This still ranks as one of my favorite getaways of all time. I loved all the specialty shops, the historic architecture, the restaurants, the scooter ride out to the winery. I would love to go back there with my friends . . . here are the fun details of my first trip.
San Antonio, Texas
San Antonio is perfect for a girlfriend getaway. You can stay in a hotel right on the Riverwalk and have all the shops and restaurants you need all within walking distance. The Riverwalk has great outdoor patios at every restaurant so there are plenty of places to just hang out.
St. Charles, Missouri
This old, historic town is located minutes from downtown St. Louis. It has plenty of good shopping and restaurants and there is even a nearby casino if that interests you.
A winery-hopping weekend can make a perfect weekend for a getaway with your friends. There is a trolley that will take you safely around to the wineries so you can just enjoy hanging out with your friends.
My friends and I love going to Chicago! We always stay somewhere along Michigan Avenue so all the shops and restaurants are easy to get to. I’m ready to stand in line for some Garrett’s Popcorn!!! We haven’t been to Chicago in quite a while so it’s probably time to go back.
You can’t beat Florida with friends. Some of my favorite trips have only included laying around on a beach, reading a book, relaxing and laughing. More than one trip has involved quite a bit of singing on the beach late at night. Thankfully the beaches were deserted so we weren’t disturbing anyone! Of all the trips we take, going to Florida is definitely the most relaxing because we don’t plan as much to do.
It’s a good thing I don’t have to pick which of these spots is my favorite because I don’t think I could. They are all fun for different reasons. In fact, I want to go back to ALL of them with my friends!!! But . . . I’m open to new ideas. Where should we go next???
